The Pratt knot (also referred to as a Shelby knot) is quite a simple tie knot which is quick and easy to learn. Once tied, the knot is symmetrical and wider than your go-to four in hand knot which is great if you’re wearing a spread collar and want to get your tie noticed!
This one is unusual as you start with your tie being reverse side outwards but is perfect for taller men or shorter ties as you do not need a longer length tie than usual like the Windsor Knot for example.
Follow our steps below and you’ll be tying this one like a pro in no time.
1. Hang your tie around your neck with the reverse side facing outwards.
2. Cross the front of the tie under the tail then bring it up and over the neck band and back down again
3. Bring the front across and over the tail of the tie
4. Pull the front up under the neck band, loosen the loop you have just created in step 3 and feed the blade through.
5. Adjust the knot to sit comfortably against your shirt collar.
What did we tell you… easy and simple and the result is a great tie knot perfect for any length tie!
