Providing a quotation isn’t rocket science. But as with all things, there is a smart way and a not-so-smart way of doing it. Most companies will quickly calculate pricing components and produce a standardised one-size-fits-all run-down of costs. There will often be several unnecessary options that the client then has to sift through until they find the ones actually relevant to them. Here at Keltic we like to take a different approach: we find out a little more about your custom tie needs to provide you with a tailored quotation which best suits you.
1 – Your company/organisation
We receive a high volume of quotation requests every day, but we take the time to read through each one carefully and evaluate what type of company or organisation you are from. This way we can advise on the best options to suit your needs. For example if you’re a school needing children’s school ties, we aren’t going to give you prices for silk weaves as the fabric is not practical.
2 – When will you be wearing your custom tie?
We can usually determine the answer to this question ourselves based on the information you give us and the extensive research we conduct for our customer profiles. We know that if you’re from a Masonic lodge and wanting anniversary ties you’re likely to be looking for something extra special to commemorate such an event, so we’ll provide prices for a silk option and send you a sample of the same to judge the high quality for yourself. Of course if we’re not sure, we’ll ask you.
3 – Do you have any colours or design ideas in mind?
Colours and designs are most often a big selling point for custom ties (we’ll just casually insert a plug for our free artwork service here…). This means that it’s our job to find out what you’re looking for, and more importantly – whether your ideas will translate successfully to the custom tie you are looking for. More often than not, your design ideas are perfectly fine and can be successfully woven/printed, however on a few occasions this may not be the case. We will assess your ideas and provide a suitable quote, along with information on how your design will translate to the product. We will never promise a product design that is not 100% achievable. Feel free to preview our striped ties for inspiration.
Just to provide an example for you, if you are looking for a woven tie with a white ground colour, this simply isn’t possible due to the make-up of the weave so we would advise and quote for a screen or digital print tie.
4 – Do you have a deadline for your custom tie?
Whether or not you have a deadline is not the first question we will ask you, but through correspondence if you indicate that you are pushed for time, we will certainly take this into account. We can usually meet a well planned out deadline, work with you and prompt you if we may be getting tight on time through the course of your enquiry with us. In some cases, achieving a deadline in a very short time frame is simply not possible and we will advise you of this immediately.
5 – Do you have a budget?
As much as everyone would love not to think about pricing structures and just go with their first choice of supplier we appreciate that is not always the case. If you mention you’re looking for the best quality for the best prices we’ll ask you for your budget. We’re happy to work with you where we can to accommodate your requirements.
